The summer of 2015 brought us many summer blockbusters from The Avengers movie sequel, to Pitch Perfect 2, and Jurassic World, to name a few. Even though the year is winding down, that doesn’t mean that the upcoming fall/ winter movie line up is. Here are some movies viewers should watch for this coming fall:

In early October, The Martian, opens. This thriller follows Astronaut Mark Watney as protagonist. When a solar storm disrupts the mission, Watney is presumed dead and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With few supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Staring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, and Kristen Wiig, this is sure to be a popular hit. Director Ridley Scott always knows a way to keep his audiences coming back, and this movie promises more of the same.

In theaters on October 9th, The Walk follows the story of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit and his attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. This high-wire drama, directed by Robert Zemeckis, highlights Philippe’s epic journey to make a name for himself and his country on the iconic New York skyline. Staring Joseph Godon Levitt, Ben Kingsley, and Charlotte Le Bon, this drama is sure to stir feelings in everyone.

On November 20th, the long awaited Mockingjay – Pt. 2, the epic conclusion of the Hunger Games series, opens. This, the fourth movie in the series, is a continuation of the last movie Mockingjay Pt. 1, where we find Katniss Everdeen fighting for her own and her nation’s freedom against the oppressive Capitol. This action packed Dystopian film returns with all the main stars, including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. Although dark in places, the movie version promises to follow the book faithfully, and will definitely be a strong and memorable end to this fantastic series.

Spectre – In theaters November 6th, Spectre is yet another film in the James Bond series. In this film, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE. This action film stars Daniel Craig, Chistoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes.

December: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens – In this continuation of the saga created by George Lucas, we find the setting thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI, and a new set of characters has been introduced as well as  the return of some of our old favorites. The rebels are still fighting against the empire in this seemingly magnificent looking continuation of this beloved saga.   Starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, this film has the potential to be a blockbuster.

So there’s no need for anyone to complain of nothing to do this fall season.  If you want a break from football, grab a friend  and head to the local theater.
