The Hubbard Varsity Boys’ Basketball team has experienced much change this year. There have been over eight different starting lineups, and different guys in the rotation. It has been a whirlwind of a season, and it might not be turning out the way they wanted, but the team is starting to play well in losses—and in wins occasionally.

Hubbard enjoyed its 3rd win of the season on Tuesday night against Lakeview 58-50. The Eagles went into the fourth quarter down six points, and the game was back and forth throughout—six was the largest lead for most of the game. However, in the fourth quarter Hubbard showed its mental toughness and outscored Lakeview 23-9, led with big baskets by Cole Bencetic who had a career-high 10 points, along with Derek Kopanic who had 20. Add senior Jordan Thomson to the mix, who picked apart Lakeview’s defense all night, whether it was from the three or by taking it to the basket and drawing contact. Thomson had 14 points.

Hubbard looks to make it a streak this Friday and Saturday away against Beaver Local and at home against Mathews. Come and support the Eagles as they rally for momentum going into tournament play.
