The 2014 HHS Boys Soccer season is in full swing, and they are off to quite a hot start this year! The Eagles have a 5-2 record right now, losing to only Lakeview and Poland, both of which were close, hard- fought games. The boys’ record includes a thrilling victory against the Warren Harding Raiders.

The boys’ team captains this year include seniors Nick Battaglia, Chris Colella, and Cameron Syersak. The three teammates are looking to lead their talented team into a deep playoff run this fall. I managed to catch up with Nick after practice and ask him what he thinks about this year’s team and how it has progressed over the last four years since Coach Cory Reinard took over. He responded by saying, “I think we’ve played well this year.  We’ve also made a lot of progression over the last four years with Cory as a coach.  He’s a tremendous coach, and he knows the game well.” When asked about his goals this year as a player and a team captain, Cameron answered, “My goal is to stay healthy and to still be a driving force of our team. I just want to ball with my bros my senior season.”  And indeed, they will. The boys take on Howland Thursday, September 11th, at Hubbard Memorial Stadium, and are hoping to improve their record to 6-2. Come out and support your Eagles! The soccer team would also like to wish all the other fall sports good luck this season!
