“The Show must go on…”
December 22, 2011
After almost two months of rehearsing and with no actual auditorium to perform in as construction continues, the HHS Drama Club performed their latest play, Cheaper by the Dozen at the Hubbard First Baptist Church on Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th. The two-hour production, starting at 7:00 pm both nights, attracted nearly 100 people.
Cheaper by the Dozen is the autobiographical novel by Frank Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey about a family consisting of ten children, a house cleaner, doctor, teacher, two boyfriends and two loving parents, all performed by Hubbard High School’s own talented students. This play is a classic because of its humor, charm, and relevance to high school students and their complicated lives. The show deals with pressure from peers and from misunderstanding parents overly anxious about grades and survival in a family of 12. The main theme of the show, however, was to remind everyone that family is the most important thing in the world.
For the spring musical, the HHS drama department will be performing Grease, with the ASL (American Sign Language) students signing the presentation. This is sure to be a special event.
